Ready to head for the hills, surrounded by nothing but nature, sunshine and good humans (plus some very cute animals) and reenergise your entire being? Me too! Enter Cortijo el Cachette in October….
A beautiful, 150-year old traditional farmhouse situated in 80 acres of land planted with Spanish olive groves and oak trees. There is a incredible pool within a walled enclosure that frames the Andalusian countryside beautifully creating the feel of a secret sunshine paradise, an outdoor ice bath (yes you ARE going in) and a courtyard garden with a back terrace offering an al fresco dining experience with sunset views over the hills and beyond.
The farmhouse has recently been renovated and revamped with eco-friendly considerations to lower its impact on the environment. Waste is sorted and composted on site, working with volunteers who run permaculture projects on the land. You’ll also meet the farm’s furry friends who live on-site, it was very difficult not to try and stash Bumpy Road (wobbly headed cat) and Lenny (adorable t-shirt wearing dog) into our hire car at the end of April’s retreat but we resisted!
The farmhouse exists on acres and acres of private land which you can of course explore whenever the mood strikes and there are plenty of peaceful flower filled nooks you can curl up in and read, journal, ruminate. There’s even a grand piano in the living room if you feel like serenading or being serenaded.
So what will your days look like? Honestly…However you want them to look…I’m a firm believer that a retreat should be a place for you to really lean into your own intuition and go with your own flow which is why every practice and meal time is optional.
Morning practice will be an energising and explorative creative/dynamic flow and evening practices will be restorative and yin based to help balance the nervous system, iron out physical tension and release the mind monsters!
The rest of the morning/afternoon is yours to do with what you want (psssst there will of course be a massage therapist on site should you what you want be a rub down). Said Massage therapist is also an incredible breath-work facilitator and will be hosting two breath-work sessions during your stay.
You will be fed 3 hearty family style meals a day and no, being on retreat does no mean tiny meals or restricted eating. All food will be colourful, plentiful, nutrient rich, locally sourced and vegetarian (we can also cater for vegan if required
Both yoga spaces are delicious in their own way, the outdoor for obvious reasons…it’s outdoor! And overlooks the stunning layered landscape but the indoor is extremely charming especially in the mornings when the sun comes up and fills the whole space with light and warmth. The energy in this place is so very special, I’m really excited to be able to share it with you and move together on the daily.
The farmhouse offers comfortable and unpretentious accommodation with plain decor and a lived-in, cozy feel. For the cooler nights, both sitting rooms have wood burning fireplaces and comfy sofas with plenty of books and board games.
For sunnier days, the house is naturally ventilated (for ecological and architectural reasons there is no air conditioning) though each room is equipped with a fan to keep you cool. All bedrooms have their own ensuite bathroom.
